Relaxed: Audio Bible Studies: Walking with the One Who Is Not Worried about a Thing
Dallas Willard had this great response once when asked if he could describe Jesus in one word. He sat back, took a breath, and responded: "Relaxed." As we know through Scripture, for Jesus to come across as relaxed doesn't mean He didn't grieve or get angry or feel the weight of the world on His shoulders; it meant He was never in a hurry to be anywhere other than where He was, trusting and obeying His Father's Way. Relax . . . Does this word describe your life? It can. And for those in Christ, it will. So what are you waiting for? Join Megan and walk slowly toward (and with) the relaxed life of Jesus. What do you have to lose? You'll find out that it's everything you've been hoping to lose all along. The Audio Bible Studies series provides a unique audio learning experience. Herod and Mary: The True Story of the Tyrant King and the Mother of the Risen Savior
Explore the interwoven lives of King Herod and Mary, Mother of Jesus as New York Times bestselling author Kathie Lee Gifford brings these biblical figures into a new light. Follow Herod from boyhood as he strives and fails throughout his life to become a beloved king. Walk in the steps of Mary of Nazareth as she navigates the repercussions of Herod's deadly obsession. Delve into the complex history of Herod the Great-his rise to power and ultimate fall in pursuit to be the 'King of the Jews.' Under a flourishing yet tumultuous background of Jerusalem, consider Mary of Nazareth's place under Herod's rule and the promise of a Messiah to free her people. Kathie Lee Gifford with Bryan M. Litfin, Ph.D. deftly weave a truthful historical narrative full of accurate details and sweeping prose that ushers in the true King and glorifies God's powerful plan to bring a savior into the world through unlikely means. A coda between the authors, full of honest revelation and insightful meaning, follows each chapter for added in-depth reading. The first installment in the Ancient Evil, Living Hope series, Herod and Mary begins with the tragic life of King Herod-Christianity's first true persecutor. As an impressionable boy, he is forever marked by the raw power of Rome. Throughout the course of Herod's career, he gains power, fame, and riches beyond belief. Yet murderous intrigues stalk this man-and infect his own dark soul. Under the rule of King Herod, Jerusalem becomes a prominent city of wealth and prosperity, but Mary saw the struggle of her people under a tyrant. Like all Jewish women, she knew the promises of Torah and longed for a deliverer. But no one could have prepared her for what the angel of God revealed: that the Messiah wouldn't arrive with the blaring of trumpets, the clash of arms, or the fanfare of a mighty host. He would arrive as an infant within her own womb. The light of the world was born in a cave: not a king who maims and destroys, but the gentle King of the Jews. This riveting narrative nonfiction work reveals deep insight to how Herod came to power, how corruption and an ancient evil threatened the stability of a nation, and how a teenage Mary was called to traverse these obstacles to bring the Savior, Jesus, our living hope, into the world.

Deborah: Audio Bible Studies: Discovering What God Asks You to Fight for… and Why It’s Worth It
The Book of Judges narrates one of the most chaotic and morally dark eras of Israel's story. Many speak of it as Israel's "Wild West," where the heroes and the villains stand only inches apart. Into this morally ambiguous time comes one of the most unlikely leaders of the biblical text-the prophet Deborah. She is a wife and mother in an entirely patriarchal world, yet due to her integrity and courage she transforms chaos into order and leads Israel in one of the most pivotal victories of the settlement period. Illustrating the era of the Judges by means of the archaeological record, historical geography, and the hard facts of warfare in the ancient world, this study draws students immediately into the grand tale of Deborah and Barak, Jabin and Sisera, and of course the most unlikely of leaders, Jael. This study compels the modern reader to ask and answer three critical questions: - What territory can you see from where you're standing that you know belongs to the Kingdom, but is not yet won? - Is it worth fighting for? - Are you willing to step out on faith and trust God for the victory? A bonus lecture will address the biblical theology of women in ministry and Deborah's role in that often-argued debate. The Audio Bible Studies series provides a unique audio learning experience. Unlike a traditional audiobook's direct narration of a book's text, this audio Bible study includes high-quality, live audio sessions from the author that cover important Bible-based topics. These sessions will reflect the ambiance of the unique recording locations, immersing the listener into the teaching. Why Hell?: Three Christian Views Critically Examined
Most people believe that hell is the final state of the condemned following the final judgment. At the same time, many people cannot comprehend why God created hell for the unsaved. Respected church fathers held a variety of views dating back to the early centuries of the church. This book explains views on why hell exists: unending suffering, the annihilation of the unrepentant, and the rehabilitation of the lost. Most Christians are unaware of the scriptural basis for each of these positions. Why Hell? is meant to educate the interested reader without advocating for any one point of view. The following are some of the book's features: - Biblical vocabulary of hell and positions held throughout early Christian history - Positive cases presented on three perspectives: traditionalist, conditionalist, and restorationist - Critiques of each view - Helpful charts at the back of the book that summarize and cross-examine the arguments for each view Steve Gregg provides food for thought for both trained theologians and serious Christian readers who want all the data and then consider for themselves the consequences of three Christian perspectives on hell.

The Overcomers: Audio Bible Studies: A Bible Study in the Book of Revelation
In The Overcomers, bestselling author and pastor Matt Chandler reveals what our lives would look like if we lived from a place of believing that we were fully prepared and equipped by God to handle anything that life threw at us. God has built us to be victors in this world. From the moment we received his salvation, we were given the gift of the Holy Spirit to fight the present darkness on this earth with his light. But in these bleak times, we often find that Christians-and the Church-are snubbed, attacked, and criticized in this fight against evil. As a result, many of us struggle with accepting our role in the fight or feel we are on the losing end of a cultural war with no hope for victory. Yet regardless of the events and circumstances in our day, we can live a life of courage emboldened by the Lord. Marked by joy and conviction, we can push back darkness while being used by God to establish light and order. We were made for this exact moment in history-and we are far more dangerous to Satan than we realize! We don't need to be afraid of anything in the present or the future, for Christ has already triumphed over anything we might face. We don't need to live as victims or our circumstances, for God is using our stories-regardless of how messy-to accomplish his will. We don't need to feel isolated, for we belong to a global community that has thrived for centuries to effectively overcome the enemy's plans. This is our reality. We are not liabilities or weak links in God's rescue plan for the world. We are a powerful force for change today. We just need to accept this truth and engage in the battle. Hearing the Message of Habakkuk: Living by Faith in a Violent World
What does it mean to be faithful disciples in a violent and unjust world? Habakkuk described an era of rampant moral and social evil among his own people, and a vision of the rapid rise of the Babylonian empire under Nebuchadnezzar. The world he described is familiar in so many eras of human history, including our own. The frightening international tensions, confusion about political alignments and alliances, fractured moral and religious traditions, and social dissolution and degradation cause the same fear and anxiety today as they did back then. Confusing is a mild world for it--international, political, religious, moral confusion. It was (and still is) a world of national wickedness and international turmoil and violence, a world in which God appears to be asleep on his watch and yet claims to be 'working a work' in Habakkuk's day and ours. Hearing the Message of Habakkuk walks through the questions the prophet asked God about injustice and the jaw-dropping answers he received. This popular-level exposition addresses: - God's silence. - God's sovereignty. - Living by faith. - God's judgement. - Trusting God's Word. What we learn from Habakkuk's dialogue with God can help us today as we struggle to work out what it means to believe in God's sovereignty, justice, and love, and to live as faithful disciples in an unjust world.

Jesus, Contradicted: Why the Gospels Tell the Same Story Differently
The differences and discrepancies in the Gospels constitute the foremost objections to their reliability and the credibility of their message. Some have tried to resolve Gospels contradictions with strained harmonization efforts. Many others conclude that the Gospels are hopelessly contradictory and, therefore, historically unreliable accounts of Jesus. In Jesus, Contradicted, New Testament scholar Michael Licona shows how the genre of ancient biography, to which the Gospels belong, actually allows biographers to be flexible in how they report events, construct a narrative, and make an argument. Licona demonstrates that the intentional changes to the Jesus tradition by the Evangelists reveal that the differences in how the Gospels report events are not grounds for their rejection. Instead, they are a result of the Gospel writers employing standard literary conventions common in their time for writing ancient biography. Licona introduces readers to the genre of ancient biography through Plutarch, who wrote 48 of the 90 extent biographies written within 150 years of Jesus, giving numerous examples of compositional devices employed by Plutarch, and comparing them with instances in the Gospels where the Evangelists appear to use similar techniques. Licona also examines Theon's Progymnasmata, a first-century textbook that provides six techniques for paraphrasing one's sources when writing a narrative. In doing so, he helps readers understand why the Gospels report many events differently. Finally, Licona concludes by addressing the thorny question of whether the editorial moves commonplace in ancient biography are compatible with the doctrines of the divine inspiration and the inerrancy of Scripture. Rather than trying to resolve discrepancies by bending the Gospel narrative, which risks making them say things they aren't saying, Jesus, Contradicted situates the Gospels within their proper context and helps readers account for differences in the Gospels in a cohesive and historically cogent way.
