ويأتي هذا الكتاب بفصول مرتبة ومنظمة، فيبدأ بمحور الإدارة ونبذة تاريخية عن الإدارة، ويناقش المدخل الكلاسيكي والمدخل السلوكي، ثم المدخل الكمي، ثم ينتقل إلى الإجابة عن سؤال (ما هي الإدارة)، وأهمية الإدارة، و(من هو المدير)، ومستويات الإدارة والإدارة الإستراتيجية، تعريف إدارة الموارد البشرية وأهميتها، تعريف إدارة الجودة، ثم الفصل الثاني بعنوان محور القيادة والقائد، فيتحدث عن مهارات القيادة وأنماط القيادة، واسرار القائد الناجح، ثم الفصل الثالث بعنوان بحور الحياة التي يسرد فيها قصص مهمة وأمثلة ممتازة عن الإدارة.
يقول فرانز كافك:ا 'على المرء ألّا يقرأ إلّا تلك الكتب التي تعضّه وتخزه'، وأيضاً 'على الكتاب أن يكون كالفأس التي تحطّم البحر المتجمد في داخلنا'. هاتان العبارتان كانتا كافيتين لوصف كتاب ضد المكتب للروائي والكاتب السوري خليل صويلح.
