The Perennials: Unleashing the Power of our Postgenerational Society
'Will open your mind to your own future and show you a new world of adventure.' - ARTHUR C. BROOKS For the first time in human history, eight defined generations live together side by side, from Alphas to the Greatest Generation by way of Boomers, Xennials, Millennials and more. However, these definitions have so often been used to pigeonhole us into rigid categories, all underpinned by the restrictive 'four stages of life' model - of play, study, work, retirement. This means that potential is left untapped on a societal level; also individuals are tied into a trajectory that minimises opportunity and fulfilment. In The Perennials, Mauro Guillén unpacks the megatrends - such as increasing longevity and the explosion of technology, among others - that are transforming life as we know it. How, within this milieu, a new group of 'perennials' must emerge: individuals who cannot be so easily defined by the pervasive metrics of age and experience or by simple inter-generational conflict. These post-generational perennials offer the promise of liberating us from the constraints of the accepted four stages of life model, therefore allowing everyone the chance of living a much more rewarding and fulfilling life. Guillén proceeds to unveil how this revolution will impact young people just entering the world of work, as well as those who are living and working longer. This multigenerational revolution is already happening and Mauro Guillén identifies how we can usher in a new era of innovation in almost every facet of life and work - powered by the perennials.

Just Price in the Markets: A History
The question of what constitutes a fair price has been at the center of market interactions since the time of Aristotle. Should a seller sell to the highest bidder, or is there some other standard, such as a morally defined price, to be applied? Charles R. Geisst traces the ways that philosophers, religious leaders, and economists have sought to answer that question, from antiquity through the modern era. Aristotle's thinking on usury influenced the idea of pricing well into the Renaissance. In his view, money was barren and should not be used to beget more money. As trade became more extensive, the strictures placed on pricing by Aristotelian thinking began to fall away, replaced by Roman and common-law conceptions of value and interest. Geisst's book follows the evolution of that thought-influenced along the way by figures such as Copernicus, Fibonacci, Adam Smith, Marx, Cassel, and Keynes-and charts parallel developments in European and Islamic notions of fair pricing. Today, pricing is seen as an economic inevitability, dictated by the laws of supply and demand. But this has not always been the case. As Geisst argues, the idea of a just price was once a moral concept, long before it was an economic one.

The Zero Transaction Cost Entrepreneur: Powerful Techniques to Reduce Friction and Scale Your Busine
For many business professionals, the daily 'to-do' list is hard enough to stay on top of, let alone coming up with the 'big ideas' necessary to take their company-or a whole economy-to the next level. But if coming up with those ideas-or finding startups that do-is your job, then The Zero Transaction Cost Entrepreneur is an absolute must-listen for you. In this book Dermot Berkery shares the key ingredient successful businesses have in common: Smart transaction cost economics. Simply put, these businesses lower or eliminate transaction costs for their customers. Here's just one of the real-world examples you'll find within: Blockbuster Video scored big by making movies easily available to rent; that's a reduction in a transactional cost. Netflix then removed another transaction cost-a trip to the store-sending DVDs through the mail. They tackled other transaction costs-limited choice and wasted time-by moving to streaming. In this book, you'll discover how transaction cost economics can work for you, in chapters that include: Why Do Other People Come Up with All the Brilliant Ideas?; The 8 Major Categories of Transaction Costs; Makers of Products Need to Transform them into Services; Why Are Transaction Costs Falling Rapidly Right Now?; and The Trifecta of Accelerators: Idle Assets, the IoT, and Marginal Cost Pricing.
