Dr. Janet S. Fulton holds a PhD from The Ohio State University, a master’s degree in nursing from University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mount St. Joseph. She is a tenured full professor and associate dean of graduate programs at Indiana University School of Nursing. Nationally and internationally recognized for her for contributions to advanced practice education, she has directed clinical nurse specialist graduate education programs at two universities. In teaching, she has focused on advancing and modernizing clinical nurse specialist (CNS) education to better prepare graduates for a progressive role in the 21st century healthcare paradigm with its shift to outcomes orientation, interdisciplinary evidence-based practice, and system level leadership. She created an innovation program for distributive education covering rural and urban geographic areas by using technology to increase access.
