Meanwhile Lenny, a former acquaintance, has just been released from prison and his mind is turned towards revenge. Wolf in Wanderley is an interesting read that explores the passage of time while also offering a subtle thriller element. The character-driven narrative gives us an insight into an array of distinct personalities, the explicit references to American politics anchoring the narrative to a specific timeline and giving the readers even more context clues.
There’s lots of opportunity for social commentary. Wolf’s work in films and his project compiling everything into blu-ray allows for a consideration of how media is available and consumed. His task of going through his parent’s house opens up reflections on generational differences and family connection. The relationship between Wolf and Maisy adds a romance element to the story and shows how life can take unexpected turns. I also found Lenny’s narrative quite interesting, he is a complex villain whose outlook on his situation is his downfall. Wolfgang Barnes has relocated to the sunny reaches of southwest Florida, but the future hanging over him is cloudier than ever.
