LoveReading Says

Chilling and provocative yet full of hope, this edgy dystopian novel is incredibly intimate and at times claustrophobic even set as it is, within the scope of a devastating worldwide virus. When Downing Street press secretary Marianne realises there is no imminent vaccine for the virus, she desperately begins an attempt to rescue more children and seven-year-old Maia finds herself on the last train to an evacuation camp.

Author H Critchlow has created the most fascinating premise, one that touches the fear felt during the 2020 global pandemic and also links back to the evacuation of children during World War Two. It is so vividly described it was all too easy to imagine, which ensured I felt an immediate connection to the storyline and main characters.

Three distinct time spans dwell within the pages, cleverly labeled, and each could almost sit as a standalone story in their own right. I really appreciated how this tale travelled through the years and allowed a more immersive experience. The main characters sing of authenticity, individuality, and spirit.

An essence of foreboding runs through the pages in different forms, creating an unsetting feeling that remained with me, though hope within the story and humanity can be found, helping to create balance. Crackling with tension and power, The Tomorrow Project is a thought-provoking and gripping read as it slices into a possible future.
