The Secret Resort of Nostalgia is a modern-day classic, beautifully written, engaging and thought-provoking.
Mike Denning gets offered the opportunity of a lifetime, a job on the remote island of Nostalgia, where he discovers a thriving community without crime, cars or any of the negative aspects of modern society, he even has a gorgeous colleague who he is getting very attached to. But is all really as it seems? Why are there security fences in parts of the island? Mike is on a quest to find out more.
What a special book: it’s far from only being a mystery novel, as it touches on so many philosophical and environmental aspects as well, but always in a thoroughly approachable and entertaining way. Sahlan Diver’s talent for writing is phenomenal, his characters jump off the pages and his descriptions are so vivid that you can picture yourself in the landscapes. Gripping from the first to the last page!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a dark mystery and I look forward to more from this author.
I thought this was good. I think the author has written this really well, as I was tense throughout and was intrigued by the secrets and mystery of the Island. I liked all the characters and was especially invested in the Earl's story. I love books set in Ireland and thought this was the best place setting for this novel, for it having remote places which are dark and creepy. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a dark mystery and I look forward to more from this author.
What an interesting concept!
What an interesting concept! I found the whole experiment fascinating, from where and how it took place, to the people involved and the deception required to carry it out. Strangely I could imagine something like this happening in real life but not sure I would want to be involved!
The characters were all very believable, the way some became part of the cult-like community, whilst the few outsiders who entered doubted the whole thing and had to find out the truth. I liked the love interest which helped to pull the whole novel together and how going back after was so different. Great book, loved it!

This is a superb book and one of the few books that comes along once in a while that really takes the reader’s attention and holds it from the first page to the last. This books falls into many genres and will appeal to a wide variety of readers be it, thriller, suspense, horror and so forth, which ever category the reader has as a favourite this is a book that is definitely sure to please the reader. The book itself is set within Ireland and relates what happens to Mike Denning who has recently arrived on a remote island. He loves the place but there is something not quite right about where he is now living in that the remote island on which he is now living has been divided by a fence and is more or less cut off from the mainland. The book follows on with Mike attempting to see what is really going on and it is here that the reader will have to take over as I don’t want to start and relate a spoiler to the story. If you only pick up a book now and then this is a book that is sure to thrill, The short chapters make it easy to read and leave the book at a convenient stop and ideal for when you have some time to spare. The writer writes in a flowing descriptive manner and keeps the reader’s attention at all times.
