The Hit List

The Hit List

Author: Holly Seddon Format: Paperback Release Date: 15/04/2021

Oooh, this is one heck of a feisty, dramatic, and addictive tale! On the anniversary of her husband’s death, Marianne stumbles across the dark web and an assassin’s hit list with her name on it. This is a seemingly simple premise, however an intricate plot, two time frames, and a sturdy cast of characters ensures a powerful read. I entered the dark web alongside Marianne as a complete novice, and found what awaited was utterly chilling. Holly Seddon has the ability to really bring a character to life, the words transfer from the page into feelings, thoughts, and actions. These are people who sit on the edge of right and wrong, which way will they topple? Some realisations sneaked into my head, while others arrived with a sledge hammer. The stakes are high, the tension increases and waits ready to trip you up until the ending hits. Provocative and stimulating, The Hit List is a wonderfully unexpected story that I can highly recommend.

Don't Close Your Eyes

Don't Close Your Eyes

Author: Holly Seddon Format: Paperback Release Date: 04/01/2018

A convincing, powerful, and dramatic psychological thriller. Twins Robin and Sarah are living separate lives, each face their own difficulties, yet danger beckons and life is about to get a lot more complicated. The story spins from Robin to Sarah, and from the present back to their childhood, each chapter swift and intense, as information is released and a picture starts to build from two different points of view. Holly Seddon held my thoughts to ransom as I started to mistrust everyone and everything, yet she allows a deep connection to the characters as sorrow and heartache form. The edges of the story ebb and flow within the rapidly moving, provocative central plot… and I could sense the huge rumbling force lurking just around the corner. ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ is an exciting second novel, breathtaking, yet incredibly realistic, and definitely worth reading, I can highly recommend it. ~ Liz Robinson July 2017 Book of the Month.

Try Not to Breathe Shocking. Page-Turning. A Breath-Taking Psychological Thriller

Author: Holly Seddon Format: Paperback Release Date: 14/07/2016

One of our Books of the Year 2016. July 2016 Debut of the Month Penetrating and intense, ‘Try Not to Breathe’ is a chokingly dark debut thriller. Amy and Alex are the same age, Alex is divorced and drinking herself to an early grave, while Amy is trapped inside her own teenage mind in a hospital bed, 15 years after a brutal attack. Alex begins to investigate the assault, at the same time as she struggles to deal with her own demons. Fast moving chapters are headed with characters names and dates, and slide around in time from 1995 to 2011. Holly Seddon writes with a sharp intensity, casting at times a desperately sad shadow, yet there is still an element of hope that struggles for survival. There is more than one jigsaw with missing pieces here, which creates a balance to the storyline. Enough information is given to allow suspicions to grow, and flourish. As each piece slots into the jigsaw, and a clearer picture starts to emerge, the writing begins to feel lighter, just as the story moves on with a harsh and bleak intensity, ensuring this is a thought provoking and riveting read.
