This truly fabulous, debut thriller by J.D. Redvale describes how John Mitcham, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, is set on a mission to find his kidnapped wife. Central to the plot is the CIA’s supercomputer - The Quantum Grail- the world’s most powerful computer built to counter the Chinese government, but stolen by the Russians. Only one person is thought to be able to locate it and that is Nia Banks, a young female computer-hacker, already serving a sentence for her hacking. John believes that finding Nia and accessing her computing skills will help him to find his wife. A thrilling tale ensues as John uses all his former SEAL training in a quest to locate his wife. Sometimes I read a book that I get totally absorbed in. Despite knowing that I should try and grab some sleep on an overnight flight, opting to read on seemed far more important! This is a phenomenal thriller which revolves around two key characters - John, a former highly trained SEAL captain, and Nia, a girl who has grown up amid fragile circumstances causing her to retreat into a solace of technology. John has recently been bereaved of his daughter, and when his wife Claire, a highly trained psychiatrist, goes missing he knows that he will do anything to find her and prevent a second major loss in his life. Thus we are treated to a clever, clever tale of John and Nia’s efforts to seek Claire, featuring John’s SEAL skills and Nia’s unique insight into the world of AI and computer hacking. The pace of the thriller is relentless, and the style in which it is written is crisp, and concise resulting in a text which is extremely readable. In addition, the snappy dialogue between John and Nia is not only humorous, but at times also tense, thought-provoking and very tender. This is a book not to be missed!

The Quantum Grail is a twisting standalone thriller that focuses on the lengths we would go to to save those we love, and I was entertained right to the end.

This search leads him to a CIA safe house and notorious young hacker Nia Banks, the hunt for Claire and four of her patients is a journey that becomes embroiled with government secrets, Russian operatives and stolen supercomputers.
