"Brilliantly original and epic in construction, witness the fight for survival after a super nova event wipes out planets and civilisations."
I found myself utterly consumed by this beautifully creative and emotional novel where the worst aspects of humanity play out in a space opera as planets die and greed and survival consumes. Author Claire North writes with an assured and imaginative pen. While absolutely epic in construction, dwelling within the intimacy of a pilot’s story as they find themselves living again and again through the endings of civilisations, ensures a completely immersive experience. The oh-so personal story of one who should be dead speared and twisted my thoughts.
The complexity of the setting caused a feeling akin to being overwhelmed yet not confusion. The clarity of the descriptive nature of the construct enabled me to touch and feel a connection with each and every part of this novel. I have chosen Slow Gods as a Liz Pick of the Month, it brilliantly travels out into the stars in a beautifully original and compelling story.
