"A striking and addictive start to a new series, where disgraced former detective Scott Jericho meets a deadly foe."
One heck of a smart and readable crime thriller that takes a bite out of convention and chews it into tiny pieces. Former police detective Scott Jericho lives for the thrill of solving crimes, however he is just out of prison for a violent assault on a prisoner and every day lives with the presence of the three murdered children he failed to achieve justice for.
Jericho is one heck of an engaging and fascinating lead character. There is a whispering shadow of the otherworldly keeping Jericho company in his thoughts, and it’s fair to describe him as a tortured soul. Author William Hussey imbues this novel with the heart of a showman, within a community who look out for their own.
The vivid sense of place plays out beautifully while the plot explodes into being with different strands twisting torturously around each other. Jericho tells his story, recounting events, one step removed from himself, leaving the reader intrigued and absolutely captivated. Knowing this is the start of a series thrills me, if you’re on the hunt for something different, step this way!
