I adored The Food of Love and was worried that The Wedding Officer wouldn’t give me that same evocative feel of Italy. Thank god I wasn’t disappointed. If you are a foodie then this is an absolute must, but beware it will make you hungry and you'll probably end up booking a trip to Italy after reading it!

Naïve and already war-weary, James Gouding takes up a position in Naples in 1943. What he doesn’t anticipate is that this involves a limited menu of fried Spam fritters and interrogating the would-be Italian fiancées of members of the armed forces. James’s chance at true heroism arrives when a German tank is sighted and he is caught in its path.
