Home Run by Gerald Seymour

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A complex thriller which very much blurs the line – as many of Seymour’s do – about the nature of good and evil and who the bad guys really are. Two deeply personal missions in Iran throw two UK government departments into conflict with one another as an MI6 officer and his handler seek revenge for his family’s murders and the Defence Secretary demands those responsible for the drugs that killed his daughter be found and eliminated. Soon the MI6 handler is thrust into the middle of both investigations and into serious danger.

If you like Gerald Seymour you might also like to read books by Sam Bourne, Frederick Forsyth and John le Carre.

Synopsis

Home Run by Gerald Seymour

Mattie Furniss has run British Intelligence agents in Iran from his desk in London for two decades. But when he is ordered to the country himself, it is clear that times are desperate. One of Furniss' key informants and close friends is Charlie Eshraq, a young Iranian whose family was murdered during the revolution. Charlie is determined to avenge their deaths and becomes involved in drug smuggling to fund his campaign. When the daughter of a prominent MP dies from a heroin overdose and the British establishment demands a crackdown on Iranian drug traffickers, Mattie and Charlie suddenly find themselves alone in the spider's web. In a hostile environment where their every move is watched, will they be able to escape alive?
