A Bright Moon for Fools by Jasper Gibson

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

An absurd, witty and at times hilarious debut novel. Harry Christmas really is down on his luck and pretty sure things couldn’t get any worse. He attempts to escape his life in Venezuela where he discovers that they very really can. Not purely comic, there are dark moments as Christmas faces violence and searches for redemption. How much you enjoy the book may well depend on how you feel about the equally despicable and enjoyable Harry Christmas.

If you like Jasper Gibson you might also like to read books by Ben Brooks, Carl Hiaasen and John Niven.

Synopsis

A Bright Moon for Fools by Jasper Gibson

'Have you sold your soul to the devil?' asked the boy. 'Everyybody has sold their soul to the devil,' sighed Christmas. 'That's why you can't get a decent price.' Harry Christmas has it all: grief, debt, gout, red trousers. Running away to Caracas might seem like a good idea, but mischief is a greedy companion. Escape turns into tragedy and love becomes shame as he finds himself the agent of far greater havoc ...
