Your Beautiful Lies by Louise Douglas

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Set during the 1984 Yorkshire pit strike we are following Annie, married to the chief of police. Her father is a miner, her mother is very critical of her and her first love, Tom, is about to be released from prison having served a sentence for a crime he has always claimed he is innocent of. The story moves quickly with well-drawn, credible characters. Through two murders, family accusations, bitter misunderstandings and tragic consequences, it’s compulsive, easy reading with a good sense of period and location.

If you like Louise Douglas you might also like to read books by Nicholas Sparks, Emma Donoghue and Maggie O'Farrell.
