Sarah Broadhurst's view...

The prolific Nora Roberts has done it again, another terrific read. This one is a crime novel revolving round the discovery of a Fabergé egg which has been lost to the world since the Russian revolution. Our heroine is a professional house-sitter who witnesses a murder and while reporting it to the police meets the brother of one of the victims. They team up to solve the mystery, naturally placing themselves in lots of danger as they get sucked into a dark world of criminal activity.

If you like Nora Roberts you might also like to read books by Linda Gillard, Sue Grafton and Jane Lovering.

Who is Sarah Broadhurst

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Taking possession of other people’s homes, especially those of the well heeled, is more than a job for Lila Emerson – it’s also her passion. As a house sitter she has all the benefits of luxury without its expense, and she gets paid for it, too. You can’t help liking Lila, and rooting for her when she witnesses a murder while gazing through the window of her latest home-from-home. Soon she is being hunted relentlessly for what she knows, and she has only an artist friend for support. The book is full of mystery interwoven with romance, while the plot is well thought through and ingenious.

Synopsis

The Collector by Nora Roberts

Lila Emerson is fascinated by other people's lives. As a house-sitter, she loves looking after the glamorous, sophisticated homes she could never afford herself. And as a writer, she enjoys watching the world go by, dreaming up stories for the people she sees from her window. But then one day she witnesses something only too real - the brutal and shocking murder of a young woman living across the street in New York. And now, because of what she saw, Lila's own life is in immediate danger from an audacious, single-minded assassin who kills for profit and for pleasure. With the police following a false lead, Lila is on her own. Her only hope is to team up with Ashley Archer, an artist with his own complicated reasons for getting involved. Lila wants to trust the passionate, quick-witted Ash - but is she letting her feelings blind her to his motives? Either way, Lila will never watch from the sidelines again...
