"Vivid yet dark and full of wit and bite, this character-led murder mystery set in India contains social commentary as it twists through millionaire lifestyles and the criminal underworld."
This thrilling murder mystery filled with dark humour, scouring heat, and abundance of attitude is set in Mumbai, India. Do step this way if you love multiple points of view and feel that main characters who aren’t necessarily likeable, add vibrancy and interest. Former Hollywood actor George Abercrombie wakes up after a drunken night to find his wife, Bollywood sweetheart Sweety Sahota, has been murdered in their apartment. George’s servant disappears, Sweety’s PA is being blackmailed, and George himself knows that suspicion for the murder will soon fall on him. Author Abir Mukherjee is a powerhouse in the crime and thriller writing world, as well as his historical crime series, I absolutely adore his standalone thriller and LoveReading Star Book, Hunted . For those who have read the author’s award-winning 1920’s Wyndham and Banerjee series, specifically The Burning Grounds which is also set within the world of film, you may well find a name that resonates here. Even amongst the murder and just a little mayhem there is humour to be found, the wit is used to great effect by the author alongside scalding social commentary. Mumbai crackles with energy as you find yourself veering from one extreme to the other with extraordinary wealth and privilege framed against deprivation and poverty. The three main character points of view clash against each other and it is fascinating to live alongside them as they all try to ensure their own wellbeing and safety. Corkscrewing through skyscrapers and back streets, The Pinnacle plays a cunning game with its three main players, and is a hugely entertaining read.

WELCOME TO THE PINNACLE.
A place where murder meets luxury and the world's most privileged depend on the most desperate.
Every floor has its secrets...
Washed-up American heart-throb George Abercrombie hates India, even from the rarified heights of his apartment on the 68th floor of the Pinnacle, Mumbai's grandest luxury skyscraper. He hates the noise, he hates the heat and maybe he's even grown to hate his much younger wife, the newest queen of Bollywood, Sweety Sahota.
When George wakes from a drunken stupor to find Sweety murdered in their bedroom, he knows he will be the prime suspect. But why have her computer and her phone disappeared without a trace? As George scrambles to piece together the night, others in the building are covering their tracks. Sweety's assistant must find who is blackmailing her, and a servant who knows too much goes on the run.
