This has everything you would want in a crime novel; a gritty gutsy Glasgow as the setting, realistic coppers, dodgy businessmen, out and out villains and enough twists and turns to tie you up and hang you over a precipice of suspense. We are introduced to some authentic likeable detectives, steadfast and thorough DCI Charlie Anderson and his somewhat gung-ho protege. The author slowly feeds us slightly more information than the investigators have available to them and we watch as the scene is set, tension builds and they try to unravel the twisted, knotted lines of enquiry.
Traditional in the best sense of the word, this is a thoroughly satisfying read, bring on the next in the series. ~ Liz Robinson
