"This thrilling blend of crime and science fiction set in earth’s near future explodes into being and keeps ratcheting the tension through to the mind-blowing end. "
Just fabulous! An exciting premise, corkscrewing plot, and relatable characters, ensures this blend of crime and science fiction hits the ground running and doesn’t let up. Nebraskan Sheriff David Blunt finds his world is blown to smithereens when a 3 mile-high figure speared by a blade crashes to earth and his town is overrun by US soldiers, government officials, cults, conspiracy theorists, and all the associated work caused by increased housing and social and political shenanigans.
When murders begin to stack up that appear to be connected to the alien, the sheriff of Little Springs races to find the killer. What a story! Author Van Jensen has created the most fascinating world, it all feels so incredibly real, I didn’t question the premise, I just believed. The focus is very much earth based, with authentic and vibrant characters leading the way.
The fallen alien remains at a distance, it retains an awe-inspiring sense of immense power, affecting the everyday life of the towns people. The strangeness of the murders creates an all-invasive atmosphere, I felt on high alert throughout. This novel is full of smart suspenseful writing with a beautifully maintained balance between the known and unknown, which is why as well as a Liz Pick of the Month, it has also been chosen as a LoveReading Star Book.
God Fall is a tension-filled, thoroughly satisfying story of small town characters in an epic setting and is highly recommended.
