I was initially drawn to Stigma by its unique premise - glowing red letters randomly appearing above the heads of some of the population. The direction of this book is really well thought out, with many questions about the arrival of the stigmas being addressed and explored in the book. I eagerly read as we followed from the first appearance, the reactions of everyone else and the twists and turns that take place along the way. All the while we read as the dates provide a resounding marker of how little time has passed to have so much change. I liked the pace of the story, I was engaged right from the start, trying to figure out what would happen as days passed, waiting to see who had a stigma and who didn’t. There were a few things that were left more open ended that I personally would have liked a more certain conclusion for, but they will no doubt be added to the long list of “what if” questions sparked by the innovative central idea, making the story linger long after reading. Stigma is great for readers who enjoy a gripping story with a unique and thought provoking central idea.
