"A joyous and welcoming book, packed full of useful information, recipes, amusing snippets, and colourful illustrations detailing a love for gardening and all that entails. "
Whether you have a pinch of windowsill, carefully cultivated garden, meandering wilderness, or just dream of growing and making and creating, then I can highly recommend Drawn to the Garden. I absolutely blimmin love this little treasure and it joins our list of LoveReading Star Books. There are times when something appears just as you need it, and this is one of those moments. I have a new patch of earth to turn into a garden and on starting to read this book have discovered that it is just what I needed, perfect! Written with joy and love and humour, Caroline Quentin not only makes gardening accessible, she widens the appeal by encompassing recipes for food and drink, encouraging wildlife, and talking of wellbeing and memories. All of these are accompanied by her own illustrations, full of colour and light, they are scattered through the book and appear on nearly every page. She writes with such open honesty, encouragement, and inclusion that I felt as though I knew her. She chats away and gathers you in to join her in her love for gardening and all that entails, including pests, mistakes, and failures. There were unexpected but lovely moments as I read, such as meeting some of my favourite stories and seeing them in a new light. I have also tucked lots of tips and suggestions into my memory. I snorted and giggled and smiled and felt optimistic so just had to choose it as a Liz Pick of the Month. Charming, amusing and packed full of useful information, Drawn to the Garden is a blooming delight.
