Author Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan delivers the most compelling of tales, his world building is on point, the plot thrums with tension and wit, and the characters are simply unforgettable. The stand out though is the way he turns the expected on its head and inserts empathy and compassion. Bait is a remarkable character in a story celebrating the unusual, she has carved out a space in my heart and will remain there.
This is a story that delivers, and I believe would appeal to D&D and traditional epic fantasy fans looking for a unique slice of charm served in a coming of age story with a difference. The Dungeon Book deserves a huge round of applause as it tells a wonderfully engaging story of resilience and friendship within a monstrous setting, highly recommended!
