In the 2022 timeframe, we learn that Megan’s beloved SAS soldier brother was killed in a road accident a year ago, which is why her best friend Cat takes her for a wild night out in Bristol. Out of money and without a phone between them, they’re chased on their way home. Why does Cat say this is all Megan’s fault? And what “awful mistake” did Megan make in the past? When the worst happens, Megan resolves to make the perpetrators pay for what they’ve done before fleeing to a remote cottage.

Then, in the present-day timeline, there’s a countdown to an electricity blackout, followed by a riveting ramp up through its terrifying aftermath. In the here and now Megan has relinquished her identity to protect herself, but in the depths of the blackout, her cottage is broken into to — surely it’s just a short matter of time before she’s found?

After escape comes confrontation, which forces Megan to face what happened when she was fourteen. With more twists unleashed along the way, The Blackout escalates to an almighty showdown, with Houdini-esque exploits entangling with the threat of being found, and found out.
