Men writing amusing novels about proper male characters with believable feelings was more a US phenomenon but now with Greg William’s The Accidental Father we can give the Yanks a run for their money. Bored and trapped, by work and marriage, Alex’s life isn’t going anywhere. But his wife’s affair with the local ‘hedge fund manager’ alpha male and the discovery he is a father to a 13yr old provide the impetus to change he needs – but the jury is out as to whether this is good or bad change.
