"A sweet, charming and gently romantic read introduces us to an unwilling witch, a curse to break and fairy tales running amok. "
Sage Hemlock is a witch with no desire to embrace the magical part of her. A devastating incident when her magic first appeared left her heartbroken and constantly aware of the dangers her powers pose. Inspired by a previous resident of her hometown who nobly sacrificed her powers to protect everyone, Sage hopes to one day leave her magic behind her.
Researching her idol while running the local museum, she comes across a strange historical book that brings a lot more magic into her life than she ever planned. With the town turning into something out of classic fairy tales, will Sage be able to protect everyone and find her happily ever after?
Disenchanted is such a sweet and charming book. Although it’s set in the same magical world as Rewitched and Uncharmed, you can immerse yourself in Sage Hemlock’s story confidently as a standalone. A story written for all the older sisters and protectors that will see themselves in Sage’s practicality and caution.
Her small town slowly transforming, with iconic fairytale landmarks popping up round every corner, is magical in its own right. Sage’s friends and family are equally joyous to get to know, with Casimir’s vain humour and Mag’s comforting ghostly presence as they stand steadfastly at Sage’s side.
The romantic plotline in this book comes only when Sage is willing to accept herself, patient and unassuming as it stands off to one side but no less inevitable. It was the perfect read for cosy evenings and added a sprinkling of classical magic into my days. A magical delight for anyone who loves to see fairy tales reimagined and gently romantic stories filled with self-acceptance and love.
From the Sunday Times bestselling author of Rewitched and Uncharmed, Disenchanted is the much-anticipated third novel from Lucy Jane Wood - an utterly magical, heartwarming, cosy fantasy to sweep you off your feet.
