Welcome back to The Rags to Riches Trilogy, if you’ve not yet stopped foot into this historical saga series then I really do recommend starting with The Rag Princess and One Woman’s War before joining the roaring twenties. You can feel the shift in time, from the beginning of the twentieth century through to twenty years later, this country went through massive social upheaval.

Here in the last novel in the trilogy, we move forwards from 1922 with Nuneaton and London as the main backdrop. As always, bestselling author Rosie Goodwin brings the time period to vibrant life, I could feel the streets and societal change, and see the interior decor and clothing, particularly in Annie’s shops.

It has been lovely to witness the her growth as she moved from the workhouse, found a family and a living, experienced the war, and is now developing a future both financially and personally. Three secrets from her past, one foreboding, one lingering,  and the other romantic, keep her company, and I spent much of the novel hoping for a happy ending.

Continued themes of resilience, divided loyalties, and compromise keep the story company. This trilogy has been a sweeping generational saga within the most fascinating of time periods and The Winter Bride is a fitting and satisfying end.
