LoveReading Says
Finding one beautiful character you’re drawn to in a novel is always a delight; discovering three you know you’re going to be devastated to leave behind is the ultimate treat! Jules, Nina and Alice meet by chance at a party in Paris in their late teens. Twenty years later, they’re all facing some major life events – but at least they’ve got each other to help them through. Or have they? After an eventful weekend back in the city that brought them together, the three best friends leave on terrible terms, unspoken secrets and hurtful lies threatening to break their special bond forever. Motherhood, love, grief, addiction, marriage, mental health – the list of powerful themes woven into Nicole Kennedy’s latest novel is vast, each one bound to resonate with readers on different levels. I’m not going to lie, there are some genuinely sad storylines and unexpected turns to navigate. But with characters written so authentically, and with such love and warmth, the result is always more uplifting than depressing. And it is Paris after all – so there’s a generous touch of glamour, fine food, champagne and dancing to keep the spirits high! Guaranteed you’ll be left wondering what Jules, Nina and Alice get up to next once After Paris is finished. Let’s hope Nicole Kennedy has more wonderfully drawn women and dramas for us up her sleeve …
