With enough twists and turns to set heads spinning, this is an enthralling read, stuffed full of intrigue and drama. Vicki finds the police on her doorstep asking questions about her ex-husband who has disappeared. She has suffered times of forgetfulness since being diagnosed with epilepsy, will she be able to convince them of her innocence? The women shine brightly in this tale, their heartfelt sincerity sets fire to the page, and yet, and yet… Jane Corry lays bait for your mind and ambushes feelings, and I found myself doubting, suspicious. Slowly and with infinite care and patience, information is revealed, though not necessarily answers, adding to the questions, adding to the suspense. I read this in one sitting, powering my way towards an understanding, and oh how my eyes gleamed at that ending! ‘The Dead Ex’ tampers with thoughts and feelings creating a thoroughly entertaining and satisfying read.
Vicki's husband David once promised to love her in sickness and in health. But after a brutal attack left her suffering with epilepsy, he ran away with his mistress. So when Vicki gets a call one day to say that he's missing, her first thought is 'good riddance'. But then the police find evidence suggesting that David is dead. And they think Vicki had something to do with it. What really happened on the night of David's disappearance? And how can Vicki prove her innocence, when she's not even sure of it herself?
