Sarah Broadhurst's view...

This is the fourteenth in Julian Stockwin’s Thomas Kydd series and if you like sea-faring military adventures then this series is for you. Kydd’s come a long way since he was first introduced in 2001’s Kydd but that doesn’t make life any easier or the story any less exciting! Stockwin himself went to sea aged 15 and his incredible experience and knowledge of naval history really bring this series to life – if you don’t dream of running away to sea when you’ve read it I don’t know what’s wrong with you.

If you like Julian Stockwin you might also like to read books by patrick O' Brien, James Nelson and David Donachie.

Synopsis

Caribbee by Julian Stockwin

More than a decade ago, Thomas Kydd and Nicholas Renzi were in the Caribbean as sailors before the mast in the old Trajan. Now Kydd, a storied hero of Trafalgar, holds the glory of being post-captain of the 32-gun frigate, L'Aurore. After unremitting war a Caribbean posting seems a welcome respite. But Kydd and Renzi soon find themselves facing a familiar threat as the French imperil Britain's vital sugar trade. When merchantmen begin vanishing from the sea, Kydd and Renzi must embark on a dangerous game of espionage, seamanship and breath-taking action in order to destroy a new and terrible danger to the Empire.
