There are times when picking up a feel-good read feels essential, when there is an almost physical need to be hugged by the words as they gather round and offer joy and cheer. And, while I truly adore a wonderful romance, there are also times when I want the romantic element to take a little bit of a back seat and to concentrate on other types relationships instead. The ten novels I’ve chosen here are undoubtedly feel-good, it’s worth noting that there may be moments of emotional sorrow and upset within (I’m looking at you Lenni and Missy), but come the end the ultimate feeling is one of love and hope. Romance does play a part in a couple of these books, however it isn’t the main focus, instead meet friends, parents, grandparents, children, and even three nuns. So, if your heart is feeling a little bit sore and you want to meet a book that will become a friend, take a look at these absolute beauties.
