A Special Edition of The Black Ice by Michael Connelly to celebrate Orion's 20th anniversary.

The second Harry Bosch book has just as much momentum as the first. Harry gets involved in a case when a narcotics cop, Bosch has had some brief contact with, is found dead. Is it suicide or murder and what did the dead cop know about an old case Bosch was working on? Bosch is told to back off both cases but like a dog with a bone he is not giving it up that easily. Plenty of plot twists and a great leading man make this an excellent read.

Comparison: John Sandford, Harlan Coben, R.J. Ellory

Synopsis

The Black Ice by Michael Connelly

Below is a video of Ben Twiston-Davies discussing the sculptures he made for the 20th anniversay edtions of the Orion classics, specifically The Reader by Bernhard Schlink.

When a body is found in a hotel room, the press soon pick up on the case: it appears to be a missing LAPD narcotics officer, apparently gone to the bad. The rumours were that he had been selling a new drug called Black Ice that had been infiltrating LA from Mexico. The LAPD are quick to declare the death as a suicide, but Harry Bosch is not so sure. There are odd, unexplained details from the crime scene which just don't add up. Fighting an attraction to the cop's widow, Bosch starts his own maverick investigation, which soon leads him over the borders, and into a dangerous world of shifting identities and deadly corruption...

About the Author

Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly decided to become a writer after discovering the books of Raymond Chandler while attending the University of Florida. After three years on the crime beat in L.A., Connelly began writing his first novel to feature LAPD Detective Hieronymus Bosch. The novel, The Black Echo, based in part on a true crime that had occurred in Los Angeles, was published in 1992 and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by the Mystery Writers of America.
