"A fantastic, fun read - the female Pirates of the Caribbean. I look forward to reading more in the series."
Available in paperback and kindle from Amazon.
I really enjoyed this novel. We follow Captain Mary and her all female crew of the 'Jenny's Revenge' reeking havoc in the Caribbean seas. Each chapter begins with a description of an object or term linked to Pirates. We get the backstory to members of the crew, starting with Anne who joins the crew after being cruelly beaten up and left for dead. Mary rescues Anne and brings her into the crew. Anne soon learns the true meaning to Mary's adventures; seeking revenge on all the men and pirates who have wronged, or wish to wrong, all on board. A showdown with Blackbeard completes this novel, but leaves an open ending for more. A fantastic, fun read - the female Pirates of the Caribbean. I look forward to reading more in the series.

The book is centred around the all women crew of the ship called the Jenny’s Revenge, under the Captaincy of Mary. Mary has suffered some of the most horrific experiences ever to be inflicted upon a woman. Having managed to escape her capture, she looks to get herself a crew which she has draws together from fellow victims of piracy, with the promise of revenge for the atrocities they had committed against them. The tale is set during the golden age of piracy between 1650 to 1730. The opening chapter sets the nature of the book and what is to come by introducing Anna, a serving girl and prostitute who whilst trying to tempt a patron, finds herself at the mercy of a vicious pirate. Anna is found by Mary, her soon to be Captain, and the story then takes us from the beginning of Mary’s journey learning how she acquired their ship, a Spanish built galleon, and how she formulates a plan for revenge, recruits a crew and how they learn to operate the ship through to open battle on the high seas. The history of each of the key players of the crew is detailed as are the pirates they encounter, all of which are real pirates from history including Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard. The crew come from all points of the known globe during the golden age of piracy, and all walks of life. From Mary, a west country girl to Ms Jones, a Naval officer’s wife to Amy, a Caribbean girl, all of their own tale of heart ache and woe. The story takes place in and around the Caribbean where piracy was accepted by those that lived there as a normal part of everyday life. The women of the Jenny learn how to appear like a stranded vessel, tempting in their prey before unleashing vengeance upon the pirate scum. It ends with the crew of the Jenny being facing terrible defeat at the hands of Blackbeard and his crew and unknowingly being hunted down by the very pirate that started them on their path to revenge.
