Since 2007, the world has changed significantly. Future generations are likely to describe this period as a pivotal juncture in world history when the status quo is irrevocably weakened and the contours of a new world begins to emerge. Throughout this period, the United Nations has striven to put the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable at the centre of the international agenda with the notion that as much as periods of global transition present huge challenges, it also creates tremendous opportunities for advancing humanity's progress. This report looks into such progress to date.
