"An exploration of our historical, political, cultural and financial foundations, how they have shaped the world we have now and the hope for a better one in the future."
Former accountant turned entrepreneur, Arunjay Katakam looks at the struggles our current economic system is facing, the historical context that has led it to be the position it’s in and offers a variety of ways he and other people and businesses are working to create a more meaningful impact and sustainable world. With an emphasis on community spirit, mindset change and sharing he suggests we could bake a significantly more interconnected world that would benefit the planet and humanity.
Generation Hope is an extensive argument for change based on both the author’s own experience and examples from people, organisations, countries and governments that better serve humanity and the planet. From stopping to think about what paying the lowest amount possible for an item means for everyone else in a supply chain to considering the support we give to those in need and the impacts of our eating habits, Katakam covers every area possible when exploring options for the current climate and economic crisis.
The arguments are positive and persuasive, the writing filled with stats to support ideas and demonstrate points and plenty of footnotes for your own further reading. It was interesting to see how drastically life has changed in the recent term, how the way we work and industry as a whole has been transformed by the pandemic and how the ways in which we teach the next generation needs to be updated to reflect the society we live in.
It is an enlightening and thought-provoking book that offers an opportunity to hope, if more people are willing to take action.
