"This translated crime novel set in Copenhagen is wonderfully descriptive with a detailed plot and two compelling main characters."
Intricately plotted and yet beautifully easy to read, this is a series you can really get your teeth into. A 15 year old missing boy is investigated by detectives Heppe Korner and Anette Werner, as they become more involved they realise that there is far more to uncover than they first suspected. The Harbour is book three in the translated Korner and Werner series, following the acclaimed The Tenant and The Butterfly House. I don’t often step into the middle of a series, but found the writing such that I was entirely comfortable doing so. I understand that not all of the novels have been translated into English, we are missing the second book Blood Moon, but as I say, I was able to step straight into The Harbour so don’t let this put you off. Katrine Engberg is a bestselling author in Denmark and I can see why. This is an incredibly atmospheric novel, Copenhagen comes to life, particularly the harbour area, I really felt the location. The translation by Tara Chace ensures you know that you are in another country, yet feel entirely at home. The two main characters make for an interesting combination and I want to now go back and read from the start to find out more of their backstory. Things move on quickly, with the layers building apace, and yet I didn’t feel rushed, I was able to take in the descriptions, get to know the characters, and really feel the plot develop. Absorbing and satisfying, The Harbour has been chosen as a Liz Pick of the Month.

From the #1 internationally bestselling author of The Tenant and The Butterfly House, comes an unputdownable and darkly original new thriller featuring Detectives Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner.
A boy is missing.
A web of lies will be uncovered...
When fifteen-year-old Oscar Dreyer-Hoff disappears, it's assumed he's another teenage runaway - an overlooked middle child who will turn up within 24 hours.
But as the hours, and then days, tick by and the family become more frantic, Detectives Jeppe Kørner and Anette Werner begin to dig deeper into Oscar's life.
Who has been sending the family malicious notes? What secrets is Oscar's best friend keeping? And what's really going on down at the harbour?
With every passing hour and little evidence, the odds of finding a missing person grow dimmer and dimmer in Kørner and Werner's toughest case yet.
Combining pin-sharp storytelling and a rollercoaster investigation, The Harbour is an absorbing mystery thriller for fans of Jo Nesbo and Tana French.
