I have been to Alaska, and spent time in Healy, which is the last small town McCandless walked through before stepping into the wilderness of Denali. Author John Krakauer took me back there, his descriptions both sing and sting, this is no theme park ride. Into the Wild transports, it is also a provocative and powerful read.
