Entering the crowded market of the celeb autobiography, Sue Perkins has managed to bring a fresh approach to the genre with a witty and funny view of her life so far - making this autobiography a winner. How much is true or gussied up for a laugh is hard to say but at base there's the story of a girl from Croydon who manages to get to the top in a very indirect fashion. It's an engaging story that does involve cake – but not a lot. ~ Sue Baker

When I began writing this book, I went home to see if my mum had kept some of my stuff. What I found was that she hadn't kept some of it. She had kept all of it - every bus ticket, postcard, school report - from the moment I was born to the moment I finally had the confidence to turn round and say 'Why is our house full of this shit?' Sadly, a recycling 'incident' destroyed the bulk of this archive.
