This is a sharp, edgy and amusing foray into the relationship world. The marriage in question is Michelle and Patrick’s, however it is Tamsin, Michelle’s best friend, who tells the story. The first chapter firmly snags your attention, a jaw-dropping event is described, can it be explained, can the problem be solved, or can it in fact, get much, much worse?
Jane Fallon keeps your attention firmly on the page, at the start Tamsin knows more than you, then the tables are cleverly turned and suddenly the reader holds all the information. I had an urge to shout at Tamsin, to drag her aside and warn her, and as I witnessed events unfold, part of me wanted to read while peeking between my fingers.
The matter of fact, bitter-sweet style of writing ensures a tangible feeling of substance and reality. Fully primed and ready to deliver several sharp stings, ’Strictly Between Us’ is a bold, feisty and witty read. ~ Liz Robinson
