What an utterly compelling and beautifully balanced read this is. Billed as a romantasy, the romance teases and the fantasy element explodes into being. It also delivers fabulous characters, a vivid setting, and blistering plot which kept me glued to the pages. Oh, and please do note that this novel is most definitely for adults. On the edge of death, Saeris opens a blocked gateway to another realm where the occupants want to exploit her powers for their own survival. I thoroughly enjoyed the world-building element of this novel, I was transported into two realms that have been created with thoughtful and imaginative precision. It feels as though author Callie Hart had an absolute blast bringing this novel to life. The magic is vibrantly alive and unpredictable while different beings can be found in abundance. The ending was unexpected and has left me hungry for more! This world quite simply encourages your imagination to run wild.
