The history of the world predicts the consummation of all history in a higher standing of our common humanity. The darkness: of the past' is to become the enlightenment of the future. Hence with every prophecy, of good or of evil, we, find a picture of the moral condition on which that prophecy is grounded; and the general upshot of all foreseeing is a vision that reveals the dominion of knowledge over ignorance, and of light over darkness. There are, however, specific predictions in that marvellous Book on which Christians found their faith, and the fulfilment of such predictions has hitherto sustained the authority of that Book, not only as a record, but as a means of throwing light into the dark passages of current history, onwards to the end. It is with a feeling that the truth of that Book.
