"This book is a tribute, both to the author's father and his crewmates, but also to those many ordinary men and women who stepped up to perform an extraordinary service to their fellows and countries."
Available in Kindle, Hardback and Paperback from Amazon.
This is such an interesting story and the extensive research undertaken by the author is obvious. Bomber command training was gruelling, mainly undertaken in Canada, and many men didn't make the cut for being a pilot, navigator, wireless operator or gunner. Ground crews were also highly trained and a frequently forgotten part of a formidable team.
The writing is excellent and comments are fair, both in praise and criticism. It is hard for us to understand what it was like to live in those times and circumstances, war is hard on everyone's mental and physical health. It is understandable that the men and women don't talk about it, but we should in order to learn lessons.
This book is a tribute, both to the author's father and his crewmates, but also to those many ordinary men and women who stepped up to perform an extraordinary service to their fellows and countries. Thank you for allowing me to read this book. It will stay with me for a long time.
