"A big beautiful beast of a science fiction read spanning centuries and planets, it is at once epic yet intimate, wildly imaginative yet subtle, and immersive and authentic in its creativity."
The final book in the award-winning Three-Body Trilogy ends with a heart-thumping punch, this is an immensely epic read as it covers centuries, planets, and science that feels believable yet awe-inspiring. Author Cixin Liu is a particular favourite of mine, he consistently wows me with his creativity and thought process, from short story collection Hold up the Sky and satirical fable Of Ants and Dinosaurs through to The Three Body Trilogy, which began with The Three-Body Problem.
Translator Ken Liu is also an award winning author (loved All That We See or Seem) and he ensures the translation really sings, he also states in his postscript that the third book is his favourite. I really don’t think there is anything else out there like this, it is a unique piece of literature.
The number of small links and inner stories within the main strands help to centre yet blow open the story as the Trisolarans reach earth. This novel joins its sisters as a LoveReading Star Book and is the most imaginative of tales as it examines when humans stop being human. Death’s End wows as it reaches the trilogy’s conclusion, and is highly recommended by the LoveReading team.
