The mystery is bigger and more complicated than expected when Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett discovers a murder in a swirling snow storm in Storm Watch by C.J. Box. Wyoming, the western U.S. state nestled between Montana, Idaho and the Dakotas, is known for its rugged landscape and abundance of animals, and Box paints a beautiful picture of the state. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll delight in the animals mentioned, like antelope, bears, mountain lions, wolves, and most importantly, Pickett’s yellow Labrador, Daisy. It’s a deftly plotted thriller, and marks Box’s twenty-third outing with the game warden.
