Forget Anne Rice, the vampires in this book are truly evil and terrifying, the near future world a truly frightening place and the narrative drive pure edge-of-the-seat stuff. Amazingly McKinley is an American children’s writer and this is her first foray into adult fiction. It’s fantastic.
