A masterful novel as one would expect from the author of The Joy Luck Club. 11 Americans on an art expedition in Burma disappear and through twists of fate, curses and just plain human error find themselves lost and deep in the jungle where they encounter a tribe awaiting the return of their leader. Her storytelling will seduce you into the world of the jungle, of Buddhist illusions, of magic tricks and of morality.
Comparison: Barbara Kingsolver, David Guterson.
