The Lost Testament by James Becker

Lovereading view...

The story revolves around an old parchment which, we are told, could affect Christianity. It is stolen from the Vatican in 1965 and re-emerges in an old house in Cairo 45 years later. The Vatican want it back. A British Museum employee, involved with the demolition of the house, has it. We now have the classic chase across Europe as she flees home to have the parchment read. Its secret involves the foundations of Christianity and, as is always the case in these conspiracy adventures, many must risk their lives to safeguard it, destroy it, prove it a forgery or whatever, and so we have this here, in a very fast-paced, thoroughly enjoyable read that builds up tension, dead bodies and thrills. All good stuff.

If you like James Becker you might also like to read books by J L Carrell, Glenn Cooper and Dan Brown.

Synopsis

The Lost Testament by James Becker

From the publishers that brought you Dan Brown. For thousands of years we guarded it. But now it has been found. This could be the end - for us; for our organisation; for the world. You must destroy it, and those who have taken it. An ancient object is discovered in a Cairo souk. Hours later, the market trader who sold it is tortured to death. As the bodies begin to pile up, a request for help is sent to British Museum historian Angela Lewis. Angela travels to Spain with her ex-husband, undercover police officer Chris Bronson. There they discover the key to the greatest secret in the history of Christianity. Their only problem is deciphering it before they are brutally murdered like those before them...
