Calling Mrs Christmas by Carole Matthews

Lovereading view...

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

A lovely author who is ace at relationship novels, gives us one of her best. A charming tale of a financially struggling couple, he, Jim, a prison officer at a young offenders’ prison, she, Carrie, now several months jobless, are fast running out of money. In entrepreneurial style, Carrie launches an ‘organise your Christmas’ business which attracts the attention of a millionaire in the throes of a messy divorce wanting to wow his kids. Carrie organises their Christmas which includes a trip to Lapland to visit Father Christmas. Mr Millionaire (Carter Randall) asked her to accompany them. How poor Jim copes with this and how Carrie is affected by the whole thing makes for a highly suspenseful tale. Add the wonderful trip to Lapland and some fine passages on the background to the young offenders’ prison and you have a romance with a difference. It is a wonderful read.

If you like Carole Matthews you might also like to read books by Julia Williams, Jill Mansell and Coette Caddle.
