The 2011 Bakeoff Winner, Jo Wheatley has collected together the thoughts, the recipes, and the help that will spur on anyone wanting to get serious about baking. She’s equally passionate about baking and its role in family life. By involving children, teaching them baking skills and cooking for them shows love and attention, something that all too many children lack. She has so many happy memories of family get-togethers, treats made for parties, cakes made for the happiness of all that her enthusiasm spills from the page, it would be a reader of steel who didn’t bake a cake or a biscuit after reading this. And there’s a recipe for real, homemade custard creams among all the other sweet – and savoury treats she has to offer.
Jo Wheatley was 2011's Great British Bake Off winner, delighting the judges with her raw talent, original ideas, and delicious baking each week. Now, in her first book, Jo shares the tips, tricks and family recipes which she has developed in her own kitchen. With the straightforwardness of a busy mother, but an eye for the pretty details which characterised her winning creations, Jo's love of baking shines through this collection of more than one hundred recipes. From the family bakes which Jo raised her three hungry boys on, to the Afternoon Tea treats for her friends, and the mouth watering savoury pies and tarts baked in her very own Aga, all of Jo's recipes will inspire you to develop your own passion for baking.
'Her first book is our well deserved winner in this fiercely fought category. It's gorgeous, filled with over 100 beautiful recipes, from family bakes and afternoon treats to breads and savoury tarts and pies. What makes it special for us is how Jo's enthusiasm for baking really shines through. With little anecdotes and with personal hints and tips plus mouth-watering photography, it's sure to inspire you, whether you are looking for ideas for a party or simply a lazy weekend brunch.'
