Nicci Morrison was always the first of her friends to do everything! But she wasn't meant to be the first to die. But when she does, little does she know the impact her decisions in life would have on her best friends with whom she leaves her most treasured possessions including a husband, two kids and her garden! A fun and feel-good novel tinged with sadness but altogether a great read.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but at least Nicci has one last chance to make a difference before she goes. She's decided to leave letters giving her most treasured possessions to her closest friends. To her single friend Mona she bequeaths her husband David, little knowing her best friend found The One a long time ago!To childless Jo, Nicci leaves the care of her three-year-old twin daughters. Jo however is finding it hard enough to cope with the fortnightly arrival of her stepsons. To Lizzie she leaves her garden. But while Lizzie is loyally tending Nicci's plants, the parts of her own life that are in desperate need of attention are falling by the wayside. But Nicci didn't always know best, and she couldn't have imagined the changes and challenges her letters set in motion for the loved ones she's left behind.

Praise for To My Best Friends:
'There aren't many books that can make me properly sob, but this is one of them. Cleverly structured, To My Best Friends is a grown-up tale of love and loss that got me thinking about the complicated nature of female friendship, with all its joys and sorrows. Sam Baker's writing is humane and life-affirming
'Sam Baker has written a glorious hymn to one of the strongest, yet most underestimated loves in life - that of the woman for her girlfriends. You will love this book, I promise '
'really engaging and entertaining, a really good read'
'A gorgeous indulgence of a novel. Full of friendship, flirting and frocks. It's irresistible'
Praise for The Stepmother's Support Group:
'Sometimes, a book can be such a brilliant idea you can't believe no one has done it before! Stepmothers, stepfathers, stepchildren: all will find amusement and comfort in its pages.'
'The narrative is well thought out with a great plot and likeable characters. Writing from the point of view of the Wicked Stepmother makes for an interesting and different read.'
'In this feisty female-support fiction, each of her group of five women - Eve, Clare, Mel, Mandy and Chloe - has her own way of managing the complexities of 21st-century family life - living with the ghosts of dead wives, looking after the little ones, and nursing the big ones' egos.'
'Baker charts the lives of four very different women, each embroiled in a family crisis, offering us a compelling, honest and moving view of motherhood, in all forms' Psychologies
