Sarah Broadhurst's view...

An above-average New York drugs, kidnapping tale involving a dedicated Italian mafia hunter from Naples using unusual techniques in the Big Apple. Accompanied by a female agent, befriending a useful street urchin and seriously upsetting the mafia, this builds to an intriguing twist in a fast, highly recommended read. He has a terrific backlist to indulge in too, especially Sleepers and Gangster.
Comparison: Mario Puzo, Michael Connelly, George Pelecanos.
Similar this month: Lee Child, Michael Marshall.

If you like Lorenzo Carcaterra you might also like to read books by Mark Winegardner, Roger Jon Ellory and Joseph Wambaugh.

Paradise City by Lorenzo Carcaterra

Giancarlo Lo Manto is the toughest cop on the toughest beat in Europe - a detective in the Naples homicide squad, dedicated to bringing down the mob. But what hurts the gangsters in the old country hurts them in the new world too. In the highest towers of the most expensive streets in New York City, Lo Manto is becoming a problem.
